Bibliometric Study of Lymphomas: A Way for The Professional Training of the Medical Resident in Imaging

Introduction: The bibliometric study of lymphomas constitutes an essential way for the professional training of the medical resident in Imaging, by offering valuable information on the scientific activity that has been carried out in this regard, which directly affects the appropriation of the tomographic content of these conditions. This knowledge is required for its subsequent transfer to the solution of professional and scientific problems in the different training scenarios.
Objective: To examine the scientific production on lymphomas worldwide in the 2016-2020 period as a theoretical basis for the professional training process of the medical resident in Imaging.
Methods: A retrospective study was carried out. Search strategies based on keywords were defined for the updated bibliographic review in high-impact journals, mainly indexed in Scopus, with Google Scholar as a search engine. The data were analyzed using VOSviewer, Publish or Perish, Mendeley Desktop, and SPSS programs.
Results: The study revealed notable increase in publications on lymphomas during 2019-2020. The United States and Japan led the scientific production, even though the most consulted authors are not from these nations. It was evident that the number of citations showed an upward trend, but with evident concentration of authorship in some countries and institutions.
Conclusions: The bibliometric study of lymphomas directly affects and favors the professional training of Imaging medical residents, so it should be a mandatory exercise in the practice of this specialty.
