In this article we present two Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology initiatives to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020: the COVID-19 Scientific Evidence Observatory and CoronaWiki. In early 2020, the World Health Organization global health alert warned about the new viral disease, which has been spreading rapidly and for which there is neither vaccine nor specific remedies. At that moment, a race to build valid knowledge began, which resulted in a corresponding information pandemic. There is an explosion of both scientific production and fraudulent news and misinformation. Thus, researchers from the Information in Science, Technology and Innovation in Health group of the Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology propose, on one hand, to work with systematic reviews of the relevant scientific literature and, on the other, to open a collaborative platform for recording and discussing primary health care activities. health. The Observatory is built on Wordpress and CoronaWiki on Wikimedia. Systematic reviews are then developed and published, some of them in response to important controversies and misinformation, as in the case of preventive measures, the use of new technologies and medicines such as chloroquine. CoronaWiki entries are being published as primary health care activities in Brazil are identified and discussed. The initiatives are online on the COVID-19 portal of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, and are examples of the possible collaboration of Information Science to promote health and social well-being.
